Description: WWII Era US Army Paratrooper M1910 T-Handle Shovel - Shortened Handle for Airborne Usage w/US Markings - Original - Very Nice Condition - RARE Up for Sale is a WWII Era US Army Paratrooper M1910 T-Handle Shovel. These shovels had their handles shortened for Airborne usage. It has a faint US markings on the metal shaft of the spade. The metal spade has some surface pitting. The wooden handles are in good shape, normal minor surface grain separations. The head of one of the rivets on the spade has broken off. The rivet is still in place and the spade head is still tight on the shaft, see photo. Minor wear on the paint. Please see photo's for condition. This shovel was a field modification to prevent injury hazards during combat jumps. These are getting somewhat difficult to find. These were used by both the 101st and 82nd Airborne troops during their combat jumps over Europe. They are RARE. This is a necessary item for any WWII Field Gear Collection. Please see photos.
