Description: WWII Japanese Type 30 Training or School Bayonet w/Metal Scabbard for Type 38 or 99 Arisaka Rifle - LBT-30 Variation T-W - Very NICE Condition - RARE Up for sale is a WWII Era Japanese Type 30 Training or School Bayonet w/Metal Scabbard for the Type 38 and Type 99 Rifle. It has no markings on the blade. It has a metal tag on the right side grip panel with the number "9" stamped on the tag. Approximate Blade length 14 7/8". Bright fullered Blade, two rivets in contoured wooden grips, Birdshead Pommel and Straight Crossguard. Two-piece construction. It has evidence of sharpening near the tip, the blade is blunted for training purposes. No nicks or chips in the blade. Minor finish wear. Wooden grips are nice, no cracks or chips. The bayonet has a metal scabbard. The scabbard has a few minor dings, no major dents. Also some minor surface pitting. See photo's for condition. See Raymond C. LaBar book "Bayonets of Japan", LBT-30, variation T-W, page #289, listed as Uncommon 3. This bayonet was commonly used with the Type 38 rifles/carbines and the Type 99 rifles.
