It has the communication functionality of the FTA-250 and FTA 450. The FTA-550L adds basic VOR and ILS navigation functionality as well as some band scanning. The Operation Manual is available online at the Yaesu site. Take the time to check it out to ensure that FTA-550L will meet your needs. Although used, this radio is in excellent condition. The Li-ion battery seems to hold it's charge well. I would generally recommend getting the Li-ion Battery Charging Cradle for charging regulation and the AA Battery Pack for emergency preparedness.
