Vintage Crease-Pontil Transitional Yasuda Marble. With a spontaneous and elegant internal swirl, this type of marble is sometimes known as a transitional, because it illustrates the technological movement from the completely hand-made marbles of the early 20th century, to the later automated production styles of the latter half of the century onwards. This marble was made during the 1940's, in the Yasuda factory in Japan.The type typically have strong, planetary patterns; with a white swirl visible on the surface and within the depths of the coloured, transparent base glass. They display well, with interesting '9' and 'tails' forms, drizzle patterns and surface cooling marks. Yasuda Transitionals have a crease -type pontil with a distinctive curve and delicate 'eyelash' wrinkles. The type share a limited but classic and recognisable colour pallette, with a highly collectible and enjoyable character. They were very popular when they were made, and are becoming harder to obtain over time. Size: Please see the title for the size, which is recorded in fractions of an inch. Condition: Mint. Yasuda marbles have a distinctively crinkled crease pontil, and often feature drizzles and tails across the surface, giving them a textural character. Some have little pop holes from their bubbly glass.
