He has served the organization in elected or designated positions at the local, state, and national levels. He is on the Hall of Fame committee for the Grand National Callmaking Competition and provides educational seminars. Fusing his professional and personal pursuits led to Rogers researching the history of wild turkeys and turkey hunting culture in North America. As a freelance outdoor writer, his articles have appeared in various magazines; he co-authored his first book with George Denka in 2023: the Turkey Call and Literature Collectors Guide. Growing up on a farm and keeping a small flock of domestic bronze turkeys led to Rogers fascination with the species; that appreciation was deepened through discovering the American wild turkey upon its local restoration. Born to a hunting tradition, he also practices active stewardship of natural resources through conservation work.
