Description: “Your Luck’s in your Hand, or The Science of Modern Palmistry, With Some Account of the Gipsies,” was written by A. R. Craig, M. A., and published in Philadelphia by David McKay in the late 1800s. Having immigrated to Philadelphia from Scotland, McKay’s publishing house began in September of 1882. This hardcover book is of high quality, with all 320 pages present and strongly bound. Minor fraying to the top and bottom of spine. The gold hand on the cover was besmirched long ago by, perhaps, a hot toddy. It left a dark, skinny circular shape. Probably someone used it as a coaster in a dark pub on a cold night. This might be viewed as The Unfortunate Hand but in a way, it adds character to The Fortunate Hand. I believe the original owner of this book used a newspaper clipping as a bookmark, as pages 198 and 199 have been besmirched by that ghostly yellowing. The text is still readable. All 320 pages are here and intact.
